Thanks to the Guardian for the cartoon.. which is just a bit too close to how it is....

If you are concerned about how photographers are being seen by the police have a look at the “I’m a Photographer not a terrorist” website

SWPP Prolab of the Year

AT the SWPP conference last week we were just one of five labs in the UK to be nominated for “ProLab of the Year” - we didn’t win but still not bad considering we’ve been serving the social photo market for less than two years!

SWPP Conference 2

Just on the last blast getting ready for the conference... If you’re there remember to swing by and say hi - and pick up a free desk calendar..

Also - send me a tweet for a code to say when you meet me at the stand - and we’ll print one of the calendars of your images for free..

Low cost viewing light

I chanced across these one day whilst out shopping with the good lady....

daylight viewing lamp
From Hobbycraft - they look very much like the ones you get from X-rite except they are just £20! Same tube too - so perhaps the X-rite are better made....
If you are going to be at the SWPP conference this week swing past the stand and you could perhaps win the one I have with me... free draw! (my whole lab is a viewing booth!!)

B&W prints now in bordered prints

Here’s the start of the roll out of new products.

In the BORDERED tab - all the prints now have the ability to change the size of the border - the colour of the border - the colour of the keyline round the photo (to make it disappear just make it the same as the background).

You can also change the image to B&W - but wait - there’s more!

You can select B&W, Cool B&W, Warm B&W, Mild Sepia and Strong Sepia.

With the BORDERED tab you’ll find a new selection box at the bottom left - and this can be resized to show all the options by clicking and dragging on the “dots” between the sections.

There are 32 colour to choose for the Paper, 32 for the keyline, the 5 B&W and Sepia options plus how it was sent - and with 1.5”, 1’, 0.75”, 0.5”, 0.25” and no borders you get hundreds or even thousands of possible combinations.... though good taste should reduce this number!!

SWPP conference

In you are in London for the SWPP conference please swing by - we’ve a small stand downstairs - 215A.

David will be for the duration - and you might just find him in the bar too!

New options on prints

Over the next two weeks you’ll find the B&W prints go - as you’ll be able to make B&W (in a range of tones) at the click of a button from the “Prints” tab

If you are going to be at the SWPP convention swing by - your opinions on the tones will help us fine tune how they will look

VAT changes - price changes

As you’ll be aware VAT has changed from 15% to 17.5% as of the first of January.

As our prices are rather keen we cannot absorb this - so we’ve had to change our prices - most by a penny or two - some a little more - and some we’ve kept the same.

Of course, if you are VAT registered you’ll find very little difference.

Some of the Pearl prices have changed - and we’re introducing some 2-up layouts to make the smaller print sizes keener.
